What are they looking for? I don't know! I have great recipes...I think I have personality....Am I too old? No, there are people older who have been chosen!!! Just keep working....
I've now had a "shout out" on the front page 5 times....So I know they know how hard I've been working on this!!!!
Why aren't my recipes winning anything?
I get depressed -- and the RWOP family boosts me back up again! Are these women AMAZING or what? I have never seen anything like this! There are people who have befriended me...who are encouraging me...and I don't know them!
This is a BEAUTIFUL, POWERFUL circle of women! The REAL WOMEN OF PHILADELPHIA!
I'm having all sorts of "offline" conversations - phone and email - with some of these incredible women!
Of course the PAULA DEEN DANCING MACHINES are da bomb!
But there are others who invested an incredible amount of themselves into this...and they are sooooo depressed....I'm trying to go online and recognize a lot of people who've have no comments or acknowledgements...
Jen Peer has done a great job at that as well! And Kim Doyle Wille has truly been the "Goddess" of all things web based!!!!
This "contest" is turning into something pretty special...

RWOP - Week 4 Desserts!
I love this category! But I don't want to be cliche! I'm not going to post the desserts I am MOST FAMOUS for! My carrot cake is the BEST...but I'm sure there will be a hundred carrot cakes!
Chocolate Niece? EVERYONE is going to submit that one!
What do I do??? So many of my BEST desserts are so common!!!! They've been made for over 50 years! How do I know this? MOST OF MY COOKBOOKS ARE OVER 50 YEARS OLD! Yep!!! Philadelphia Cream Cheese ROCKS! It's one of the few things in this world that has been around LONGER THAN I HAVE!

Submit my mother's FAMOUS APRICOT CREPES...that I KNOW is the best tasting recipe on the site!!!!!

RWOP Week 3 - Entrees
What to do..what to do? I think it's my hair! I don't think my hair is what they are looking for!!!! I have crazy hair but I don't want to cut it yet....ooooooooo should I go ahead and cut it? Look at the videos of the winners so far...what are they looking for? Can't tell...everyone is so different!!! Maybe I should get my teeth capped...Can I get that done in a week?
This is the week I have to go to New York again.....Why can't they understand that I have more important things to do (like cook!) than deal with their clinical trial for a new cancer drug! Why couldn't I just be married to a rich guy and not have to work????????
I MAKE THE BEST CHICKEN ENCHILADAS IN THE WORLD! I do. I know it sounds arrogant...but I do! EVERYONE tells me so!!! My dad was ready to front the money for me to start a restaurant when he tasted them...!!!! (Why didn't I take him up on that???)
Didn't you love my sombrero???? Did you think it was Clint?
Then I decided to get creative with crepes and the chipotle chicken crepes with a fig reduction...I actually liked this dish. The sweet fig was a great counter taste to the spicy chipotle! But, no bueno.
And no one like my "eggs in a nest"....I LOVE THEM! When I was growing up my mom didn't use turkey..she used beef/pork mixture...But my grandson loves these! The little "eggs" in a nest of creamy potatoes.........COMFORT FOOD.
Still bummed that the chicken enchiladas didn't win this week...they are soooooo good!

RWOP Week 2 - Appetizers
Oh, goody! Week 2 is appetizers! I have soooooooooo many terrific appetizers that use Philly cream cheese! But I don't want to publish anything that's common like crab dip or spinach artichoke dip...what do I have in my recipe box that's a little different?
Oh and I'm not even going to be home that entire week!!! What am I going to do???? I have to work..but I HAVE to do this! I call my sister from the plane...I have 2 days that I can lay over in Houston...will she please go to the grocery store and get the ingredients for me for the recipes and will she please let me cook in her kitchen? NOT convenient for her...she's just renting this house and is trying to buy another and the house is being shown by the realtors..not very convenient to have the kitchen in a mess...BUT I NEED TO TO THIS! She agrees.
Black bean spinach pin wheels...crab stuffed mushrooms....shrimp wontons with mango sauce....carmelized onion sliders stuffed with cream cheese....my famous shrimp dip....sweet potato chips with cream cheese and jalapeno jelly dip...........
NOTHING....NADA............ These were all so good! I just KNEW the pajama party sliders would win!!!! The crab stuffed mushrooms were TO DIE FOR! (and stuffed mushrooms won -- albeit a much simpler recipe than mine!)
Oh well....back to the drawing board and back to the airport!

RWOP Week 1 - Side Dishes!
So in March, the first competition was Side Dishes! When I look at my travel schedule, I have to be in Singapore for 6 days....The only way I'm going to get anything published is to do it in the middle of the night! What to cook? What to cook?
I decide to cook my cheesey potato and cabbage casserole! That is ALWAYS a crowd pleaser... Hmmm...first video...not enough personality!
Trey gives me the vision for the next recipe...When he came home from Iraq in November, the first thing he asked for was my chicken spaghetti (which has cream cheese but is an entree) and the second thing was my squash casserole! EUREKA! The perfect side dish!
So I don my tiara -- and drag him into the video...........AND PAULA FEATURES THE VIDEO AS THE EXAMPLE OF HOW TO INTERJECT PERSONALITY INTO THE VIDEOS! wooooooooooooohoooooooooo
OOOPS...then the next day there is a post about the REMINDERS of the rules! You can't have anyone else in the video or it's automatically disqualified!
Oh MY! Did I have the winning side dish only to be disqualified because I dragged Trey into the video? Hey, who cares? Paula acknowledged it was a good video...and I got to have my son who just returned from war in the video with me!!!!!

Becoming the Voice of RWOP
Since March, I have been on a Philadelphia Cream Cheese quest! The first order of business was to try to be selected as a finalist in a cooking contest. Whether appetizer, side dish, entree or dessert - it didn't matter! I wanted to FINALLY be recognized for my love of cooking! With fairy dust in my eyes, I figured out how to juggle my 50+ hour a week job that lately has been 90% travel -- and prepare recipe after recipe using Philadelphia cream cheese.
In all honesty, preparing all of this food with Philadelphia cream cheese has not been a chore! I LOVE Philadelphia cream cheese and have cooked with it for over 30 years!
But the most EXCITING announcement in this contest is that Paula Deen, Kraft and EQAL have decided that in addition to the 16 cooks -- they want someone to be the Real Voice of Philadelphia -- the ultimate cheerleader spot!
THAT'S ME!!!!!! LOL
While I'm new to this blogging thing -- I do have a diary -- and I want to publish it here for you so you can understand just what this journey has been for me!!!
